How We Met
Our story is a testament to the magic of timing, technology, and divine intervention. It all began on Hinge, though it almost didn’t happen. Brian’s app settings were configured in such a way that Kristin—living all the way in Freeport—should have been far outside his search radius. Yet somehow, Kristin’s profile popped up, and Brian couldn’t resist sending the first flirtatious message.
From there, a connection sparked that neither time nor distance could extinguish. Those early conversations quickly turned into visits, and before we knew it, our cars were racking up tens of thousands of miles as we made every effort to see each other across the miles between Hillside and Freeport.
What started as a leap of faith—a true “God moment”—has blossomed into a love that bridges any distance. Now, we’re putting down roots together, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the next chapter of our journey with you!
The Proposal
From early in their relationship, Brian became known for planning elaborate surprises for Kristin. So when her birthday was approaching, it wasn’t too suspicious when he started plotting what seemed like his usual birthday festivities. Little did she know, this particular surprise would change their lives forever.
The masterplan involved months of careful orchestration. Kristin’s adorable two-year-old niece became an unwitting accomplice in one of the most crucial parts of the plan. You see, Kristin had previously made it crystal clear that if Brian ever proposed when her nails weren’t freshly done, there would be serious consequences. So when her niece suddenly developed an urgent need to get her nails done with her “Aunty Kristin” a week before the surprises started, it ensurred no one would lose their head the next week. Meanwhile, Brian was orchestrating another surprise: secretly arranging for one of Kristin’s best friends to fly in from Tennessee that Thursday. Kristin knew another close friend was planning to visit the following week, so Brian carefully fudged both friends’ travel dates to keep their overlap under wraps.
On the evening of November 17th 2024, Brian took Kristin to an elegant dinner, which seemed like a perfectly normal birthday celebration. The real adventure began when they headed to their next destination: a Titanic-themed escape room. For Kristin, a devoted Titanic enthusiast who had always wanted to try an escape room, this alone seemed like the perfect birthday surprise.
As they worked their way through the puzzles with what appeared to be a random fellow player (who was actually a carefully planted photographer), they reached the final room. Suddenly, the clues took an unexpected turn. Instead of the usual escape room finale, Kristin found herself staring at custom-made clues featuring their photo and the date “Kristin & Brian – 11/17/2024,” complete with playful cartoon rings.
While Kristin was still processing this twist, the room filled with their loved ones. Brian dropped to one knee, ring in hand, and asked the question he’d been waiting to ask: “Kristin, will you marry me?”
Her immediate response – a shocked “SHUUUUTTTTT UPPPP!!!” followed by an emphatic “YES!” and happy tears – perfectly captured the moment. Even after she’d said yes, the surprises kept coming as she gradually realized the full scope of Brian’s planning: the perfectly timed visits from her best friends, the planted photographer, and all their family and friends who had gathered to celebrate their special moment.
